Breaking the Cycle of Violence: Strategies for Non Violent Resistance

Kids are like a mirror, what they see and hear they do. Be a good reflection for them.

                                                                                                                                 Kevin Heath

Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) Informed is delivered virtually via WhatsApp / Teams or face to face. Calm Parenting Approach (CPA)  offers an easy and straightforward approach to accessing affordable support for individuals, families, children, young people, and service providers. We understand that such support is not always readily available to parents, caregivers, families, their children, and communities.

Therefore, we aim to bridge this gap by utilizing the principles of Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) Informed. This approach, inspired by the influential work of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, centres around peaceful non-violent protest. Our sessions will focus on implementing Non-Violent Resistance Informed Practice, whereby we will identify and apply the principles of NVR to effectively address the challenges faced by our clients.

We start by giving all our clients, 20 minutes free consultation when you make contact. There are 3 options available for you to choose from.

Option 1 is called FastTrack - £40 per session( 6 sessions = £240)

Our sessions are in six parts, 1 hour per session, weekly, fortnightly or monthly. However, for this to be effective, there is a great deal of takeaway (homework to do between sessions) in order to get the best out of the sessions.

Option 2 is our Slow & Steady - £40 per session (12 sessions = £480)

This is doubling option 1, which will make it 12 hours over 12 weeks. Essentially, If you prefer to take things at a shorter pace this option is less intensive, but spread over a longer period.

Option 3 - £90

This is for anyone who is more hands on i.e. Do it yourself (DIY). We have provided materials that you can access in your own time, work to your own pace and convenience / unlimited access to the resource. Plus, 2 hours guidance to help plan and put the learning into practice. Do note, this guidance can be done in the beginning or at the end.

Parents/caregivers, you know your child, adolescent, and family, so you can decide which option is most suitable. CPA interventions are simple and they provide changes that are proven to work.

In the Beginning !

At the beginning of each session, we emphasize that you are the one who knows your family best, and that there are no quick fixes or magical solutions. However, by making practical and tested adjustments to your everyday life, achieving positive changes is definitely attainable.

NVR informed can positively improve your relationship with your children, empower you by strengthening your support network and managing negative behaviours. This also helps you create a plan, create a parental presence, and therefore a peaceful home life.

Non-Violent Resistance Informed is a powerful tool and by utilizing NVR techniques, you can effectively address negative behaviours and create a plan. The focus is not on changing your children, but on changing you as a parent / caregiver. This is attainable by taking control and leading by example through your actions, so you can inspire your children to make adjustments and promote a harmonious family life and a loving and nurturing atmosphere for your children to thrive in.

  • Is your home life spiralling out of control?

  • Losing your child due to aggressive behaviours.

  • Is your child / adolescent sabotaging things that are good in their life?

  • Self-destructive behaviour.

  • Is your child hitting you.

  • Do you not meet the threshold for support from social services.

  • Worried this may lead to your child being criminalised?

  • Do you feel helpless and alone with no support?

  • Worried that you may lose your temper.

  • A belief that violence is the only way your child will listen.

  • Parenting styles clash e.g., Strict parenting and passive parenting?

If this applies to you then learn a parental tool that can de-escalate violent behaviour.

“Non-violent is absolute commitment to the way of love. Love is not emotional bash; it is not empty sentimentalism. It is the active outpouring of one’s whole being into the being of another.”

Healthy Lifestyle

The young generation faces numerous challenges in today's society. To address these issues, a comprehensive programme has been designed to assist them in acquiring essential skills. One of the key focuses of this programme is communication skills, as effective communication is vital for personal and professional success.

The programme  aims to educate young people about substance misuse and its potential consequences, empowering them to make informed decisions.

Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of maintaining healthy relationships, both with oneself and with others.

In an increasingly digital world, the programme also provides guidance on navigating social media responsibly and safely.

Recognizing the significance of emotional well-being, the programme focuses on managing emotions and developing healthy coping mechanisms.

Self Esteem programme focuses on how we think about ourselves, the positive aspect that means healthy and positive results with that mindset. Then it also looks at the negative and low self esteem and how this view of oneself can be unhealthy and lead to unhappiness.

Lastly, it offers valuable information on various resources and support channels, ensuring young individuals are aware of available help. In addition, keeping fit and active is encouraged to promote overall well-being.

Why Healthy Lifestyle?

Does this work?

I used to deliver this programme to schools in Gloucestershire, plus to young people who were arrested / coming into the criminal justice system. This intervention helped to reduce further offending and desistance from criminality. This programme gave the children/young people and their families the opportunity to participate in order to reduce their penalties. This worked well with referral orders and Restorative Justice. This is a good preventative intervention to prevent negative behaviours.
